Both kits put the same legal name and USDOT number on both doors at 2 inches, and both pass a roadside inspection. The difference is what gets cut, what you peel, and what is left on the paint.

How it arrives

What it is: Every letter and number cut out of solid-color vinyl. The waste vinyl around them is weeded away by hand, and the letters ship held in position under one sheet of transfer tape per door.
On the door: Only the letters. No panel, no outline, no background. The door color shows between them.
Install: Peel the liner, squeegee through the tape, peel the tape. About 10 minutes a door. The tape keeps every letter spaced and level.
Best for: Owner-operators and fleets that want lettering that looks factory. One color, with a second color available.
Lasts: Cast vinyl, 7 years outdoors.

What it is: Your name and numbers printed in full color on one laminated panel per door. The cutter goes through the vinyl but stops at the liner, so each door's decal lifts off its backing sheet in one piece.
On the door: One panel with the lettering on it. White, black or clear film. On clear, only a faint edge shows.
Install: Peel it like a sticker, line it up, press it down. Two minutes a door, no tape, no squeegee skills.
Best for: Getting legal today, leased or rental trucks, and anything with a logo or more than two colors.
Lasts: Laminated print, about 5 years outdoors.

What goes on the door

Every commercial vehicle over 10,001 lb GVWR that crosses state lines must show the carrier's legal name and USDOT number on both sides of the power unit. Interstate for-hire carriers add the MC number.

Letters must contrast with the paint and be readable from 50 feet in daylight — we cut at 2 inches or larger, sized to your door.

Die-cut kit

Letters cut from premium cast vinyl rated 7 years outdoors, weeded and pre-masked in one piece per door. White standard; black or any stock color at no charge, a second color as an option. Clean the door, peel the backing, squeegee through the mask, peel the mask: about 10 minutes a door.

Kiss-cut kit

The same lettering printed and laminated on one white, black or clear panel per door, cut through the vinyl but not the liner. Peel it like a sticker and press it down: about two minutes a door. Laminated print, around 5 years outdoors.
